In the spirit of the question I’m asked at least once a month (“You live in Minnesota? Isn’t it supercold there?”), the state’s tourism board staged a social media campaign in 2020 around the apropos hashtag #ChillOutChallenge. As in what are the myriad ways in which Minnesotans are willing to embrace sub-zero season.
Minnevangelist — a local arts & culture site I co-founded — was one of four local influencers asked to tackle one distinct challenge. While chef Justin Sutherland went ice fishing and media personality Carly Zucker did an afternoon of dog sledding, we agreed to camp in a yurt during a serious cold snap. Hilarity and high engagement ensued.
